Our values
Be Christ-like
On and off the court, we treat players, coaches, officials, and spectators with respect.
Be competitive
We compete hard while developing every player's skills, confidence, and character. We expect players to give their best in practices and games and to support their teammates (1 Corinthians 9:24-27).
Attitude
A good attitude shows up as practicing hard, playing hard, being at practices and games, and supporting teammates.
Team
We put the team ahead of individual performance. Every player has a place on a team and chances to learn, grow, and contribute in games all season.
Toughness
Basketball and volleyball are physical sports, and we play physically in practices and games.
Playing time
Every player gets instruction, practice and game opportunities throughout the season. Playing time can vary with game situations, attendance, effort, and team needs. In basketball, coaches also consider each player's skill set.
Playing time isn't based on age or how long a player has been with the Falcons. Coaches weigh effort, attitude, development, and team needs, with each player's long-term growth in mind.
Players are encouraged to ask their coach about anything, including playing time.
Conduct and discipline
We expect a respectful, Christ-honoring environment from everyone involved:
- Language and behavior: no profanity, lewd comments, disrespectful remarks, or coarse joking.
- Respect for all: coaches, teammates, referees, opponents, and all of their families.
Under the Falcon By-Laws, coaches, players, parents, and fans are expected to support the Falcons' values at all times. The Board may take disciplinary action, at its sole discretion, for conduct that goes against those values, including on social media.
Technical fouls: a player who gets a technical foul for behavior sits out the rest of that game. In basketball, the player sits out 4 quarters in total, which can carry into the next game. In volleyball, the player also sits out the next game.
Communication
Coaches are glad to talk with players and parents about anything concerning their child. Please wait 24 hours after a game to bring up a problem; our referee coordinator asks the same of us.
You're welcome to bring questions to the Board in person or in writing. Written questions need your name and contact information to be considered. Who to contact
In the stands
Cheer for players and encourage them. Please don't coach from the stands during games or practices, so players can focus on their coach and team.
Help keep the gym positive, free of gossip, negative talk, and derogatory language.
Game-day duties and facilities
Parents help run home games: scorebook, clock, stats, and admissions, depending on the sport.
Volunteer sign-up
Players and parents respect every facility, its staff and its rules, so we represent Christ well.
